The development and mass-production of a new multilayer bandpass filter for 2.4GHz WIRELESS LAN and Bluetooth devices has been announced by TDK.
The 1.6 x 0.8mm bandpass filter has the same low-loss and high-attenuation characteristics as earlier TDK products but features a profile of just 0.55mm and a near 50% reduction in x-y volume compared to standard 2 x 1.2mm filters. Featuring a High-Q inter-digital resonator, the new design enables the filter to very accurately select the resonating frequency. The 1.6 x 0.8mm filter facilitates high precision system performance and is therefore ideal for use in wireless communications.
The new design of the 1.6 x 0.8mm filter facilitates lower POWER consumption because of its low insertion loss which provides additional system power savings.
The filter has a maximum insertion loss of 2.5dB between 2400MHz and 2500MHz with a minimum attenuation of 40dB between 1920-1980MHz, 25dB from 2110-2170MHz and 30dB from 4800-5000MHz, says the company.
