New 16-Channel LED controller IC for LCD TV from Austriamicrosystems

New 16-Channel LED controller IC for LCD TV from AustriamicrosystemsThe expansion of its portfolio of specialized LED drivers and controllers of the newest generation of LCD TV backlight, the AS3693B 16-channel LED controller IC bee announced by austriamicrosystems.

Innovation AS3693B LED controller IC helps build very flat LCD TV with the greatest possible contrast ratio, resulting in better image quality. The concept of external effects and patented technology for saving energy that actively regulates the power to reduce energy loss in the system. This makes it very flat screen models as possible and allows the creation of highly energy-efficient solutions TV. The AS3693B LED controller IC is specifically designed to synchronize with the picture perfect LCD and LED backlight unit to achieve so-called "control block graduation for exceptional image quality.

The AS3693B high precision LED controller IC manages 16 LED cinnamon, each with an accuracy of the current 0.5%. This is by far the best performance in the industry today, says the company. The high degree of accuracy possible is the exact color and control the brightness of the LCD backlight currently available. In addition, new features, such as hand PWM "create entirely new possibilities LED control different segments of the backlight unit.

"We developed the AS3693B, our latest LED backlighting solution, in close cooperation with our OEM partners in the LCD screen to the latest features, such as reverse PWM on the market as soon as possible. We are proud to the innovator's position in this booming market with new central concepts of economics and outstanding overall system performance, "said Markus Luidolt, marketing director of LED backlight drivers, austriamicrosystems.

Murata - Ruggedised panel-mount voltmeter features super-bright LED display

Murata - Ruggedised panel-mount voltmeter features super-bright LED displayThe ruggedized, daylight readable DMU-30ACV / DCV series of panel mount, digital voltmeters, from Murata POWER Solutions, is ideal for applications in harsh environments. The compact 85VAC - 264VAC mains, or 110VDC - 300VDC battery powered meters are suitable for use in operating temperatures ranging from -25C to +60C.

Typical applications include inverters and generators, battery chargers, power distribution units and power supplies in markets such as industrial, test and measurement, alternative energy / back-up power and marine.

The DMU-30ACV / DCV series comprises three AC models capable of measuring up to 20VAC, 200VAC and 300VAC, and four DC models with ranges up to 200mVDC, 2VDC, 20VDC and 200VDC. Flexible inputs provide 2000V isolation between power source and input signal, and allow true-rms measurement of complex waveforms plus simple 2-wire operation for AC mains monitoring.

The super-bright, three-and-a-half digit red LED display is readable in direct sunlight with no shading devices and automatically adjusts brightness for indoor or night time viewing. An externally accessible adjustment for minimum intensity is also provided. The DMU-30ACV / DCV series has a low power consumption of typically 1W in full sunlight and 0.1W at night Easy integration into customer designs is supported by vibration-resistant panel mounting using six M3 stainless steel screws. Reliable screw-style terminal blocks are provided for all input / output connections. The one-piece polycarbonate housing with integrated red bezel and gasket is designed to meet NEMA-4 / IP65 moisture resistance requirements.

Toshiba - Phototriac coupler with high noise immunity for high-density designs

Toshiba - Phototriac coupler with high noise immunity for high-density designsWith the introduction of an ultra miniature device designed for high component density applications, Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has extended its family of phototriac couplers. The TLP163J offers improved immunity against external noise and is supplied in a compact, low-profile MFSOP6 SMT package measuring just 4.4mm x 3.6mm x 2.5mm. Target applications include solid-state relays, home appliance control systems, office automation equipment and other high density designs where designers are looking to save space and weight.

Approved to international safety standards, the TLP163J offers an AC insulation voltage rating of 5000Vrms (minimum). Typical impulse noise immunity is rated at 2000V. The TLP163J consists of a zero-crossing photo-triac output optically coupled to an infrared LED. Peak off-state voltage is 600V, effective on-state current is 70mA, and trigger LED current is 10mA.

Intertronics - Light enhancing heat dissipating silicones for LED potting applications

Intertronics - Light enhancing heat dissipating silicones for LED potting applicationsThe increasing power and colour ranges of leds over recent years has led to their extended use in many outdoor lighting, signalling and indicating applications, from swimming pools to motor vehicles. This has highlighted the twin problems of heat dissipation and clarity within a protected housing.

Now Intertronics offers a silicone solution - the company's range of silicone elastomers, from sales partner ACC Silicones, include optically clear encapsulants, a range of gels and rubbers with differing cure cycles and physical properties. Together with harder silicone elastomers they can offer a product for most LED potting applications which require non-yellowing optical clarity. In particular they can offer refractive index from 1.40 to 1.49, with an exciting new product now available at 1.53.

The range also includes thermally conductive compounds, which are excellent at dissipating unwanted heat away from the diode to a suitable heat sink. This is essential for optimal performance and can easily be achieved by a product such as ACC Q-Sil 533 which has been proven to offer an exceptional balance of heat conductivity while retaining a low modulus and hardness, thus reducing stresses during thermal cycles.

It has been seen that optics and packaging are playing an ever more important role when designing LED-based products which are both efficient and maintain performance over long periods of time. Silicone elastomers have proven themselves to be versatile in solving a variety of design and production issues. The Intertronics ACC range encompasses not just optically clear and heat dissipating materials, but also a wide selection of encapsulants for general environmental protection in a variety of colours, hardness and thermal conductivity to suit specific situations, says the company.
