Audio Codec Integrates Class-D Amplifier for Portable DevicesA new low-power stereo audio codec, Texas Instruments (TI) can play CD-quality and extends battery life in portable products such as mobile phones, portable navigation devices and portable media players.

The codec TLV320AIC3107 includes a stereo headphone amplifier and Class D mono speaker amplifier a significant reduction of the area and the cost of 20 percent compared with discrete solutions. The device is available in a space-saving 5mm x 5 mm QFN-40 package, says the company.
